Seller refuses to ship purchased item until it has been transferred to outside personal bank account

Anyone ever have this occur? All through the many years of buying/selling and having my Paypal account-I have never encounted this-here it is in a nutshell:

Purchased item - paid in full with my PP acct-seller says -"OK now after it clears in "MY BANK ACCOUNT" which usually takes about 5 days" "Once I have it in PP - then I'll transfer it to my bank account-if it clears-I'll ship it-on 12/12"

I,of course-replied - explained that once in PP acct-it IS CLEARED and just because she chooses to take my "cleared payment" which is in her PP acct and transfer it to her external personal bank acct-it has nothing to do with me-

THE obvious PROBLEM here is I have to wait-at Chrismas time-for an entire week after paying for my grd-dtr's gift-to be shipped from the seller because I have to wait while she transfers my payment into her bank!

AND I have to ship THIS 4000 miles after I get it shipped to me-WHICH WILL BE 2 WEEKS AFTER I PAID BY THE TIME I RECEIVE IT-MAKING IT LATE FOR CHRISTMAS TO MY LITTLE GRD-DTR!

And of course I'm paying shipping-and I still get to wait while she chooses what to do with my payment-I won't get this until possily the 19th of December-

I did my best to explain that this is not really appropriate to make ppl wait this long after the money is auto-cleared and spendable in the PP acct the instant it is there-I am very unhappy that this seller has decided this is proper-perhaps she will reconsider-let's hope since it is paid today-that it is shiped by at least Monday-

What can really be done in a case like this?  Is there anyone here that knows if I can demand my PURCHASED item not be held "hostage" while my payment is being moved around to CLEAR!! in her bank acct.  How rediculous is this?  I appreciate anything that anyone knows-thanks ahead-everyone have a great weekend!

Hi debcrn-

If the person knows they have the money because they've withdrawn their funds, then I don't know why they wouldn't ship your item.

I'd suggest leaving honest feedback on eBay about the situation if this was a purchase there.  You could, of course, initiate an Item Not Received dispute depending on how long you've waited to get to this point in the process.  Or you could approach the seller and let them know that if you don't have proof of shipment, you will begin that process.

Thanks,

Jason

I run a small wood business making wood products from hand. On my website I make it known that all money must clear my bank account before the item is shipped. I had a lot of bad checks and even a few bad cashiers checks and so that is why I do that now.  This way it gives me time to make sure the funds are good.  That said, maybe that guy has been really burned before and so wants to make sure the money is safe and sound in his bank.  Many people do not even know about paypal or at least how it works.
