bank and paypal conflict

Since Paypal asked me to confirm my Bank Account two weeks ago I have been unable to use PayPal because for some stupid and unknown to them reason the cancelled my Direct Debit. My bank has tried to submit payments but they are declined. I have resubmitted a DD request to PayPal numerous times but to no avail. have confirmed my bank account (over 10 years with PP) again and again. My bank tries to send money PP declines or has suspended the DD. Phoned on 3 occasions all promise to do something but never do. Today PP has again said I am in negative account and want more money (already been through this) tried paying them again, reconfirming my account, reaffirming my DD request. but PP seems to have lost the plot.
