Recurring payment

Hello,I have a question about my friends recurring payment.

My friend signed up to a free trial through PayPal,his account is new so all he had attached was a prepaid visa which only has pocket change in it if even that.

I have no idea why but he doesn't want to cancel the free trial until near it ends(Doesn't want to lose some benefits perhaps.My question is if he doesn't cancel it what will happen? Will it simply attempt to charge the prepaid visa a few times and fail or will this cause issues to his PayPal?

Any help on this matter is appreciated.

No help on this matter? Basically what I'm asking is,in general,can an empty PayPal with the only thing be attached to it being an empty prepaid visa go into a negative balance due to a recurring payment attemtping to take money when there's none to be taken?
