uncomffirmed address

I have been a member of paypal for 11 years. I just purchased an item thru paypal, and when paypal sent a notification, it said my address is unconfirmed, yet I have been using this address with paypal for years. Why does it show address unconfirmed?

The system might ask you to confirm your email address in order to be able to receive funds. When you add an email address to your PayPal account, we send you an email to confirm that you own the email address. 

Here’s how to confirm your email address:

1. Click the Settings icon next to "Log out".
2. Click Update beside the email.
3. Click Confirm this email.
4. Click the link in the email to complete the confirmation process.

Thanks Ally for responding to my question about "unconfirmed address. It was not my email address that I was talking about, it was my mailing address, the word unconfirmed was typed in red ink, and said unconfirmed. I have had the same address for many years, so I don't know why it would say unconfirmed?? Sorry for the confusion.
