I recieved a payment of 137 dollars from an ebay user and paypal charged me like $4.62 cents for the money I earned and then i had to refund the money due to the person not wanting the item anymore and then they charged me another $3.99 cents.... now i dont believe this is right and think its basically a legal way to steal.. what a scam

Hi,
I read your post, are you sure that the 3.99 is an additional charge? Check again. I usually recieve a credit if i refund a customer. PayPal returns the fee if you refund the customer... all except the $0.30.

All I can think is that you 'sent' money to your customer instead of 'refund'ing. There is a difference. When you send money you are paying the fees a second time for sending the money. When yuou select the original transaction you can refund all or some of the received money and get a refund for the fees from PayPal.
Thanks

If you sell your stuff, then just like any merchant service you must make allowances for your fees. This is just smart business. I know when I worked at a local grocery store, if a person used a credit card, because we kept our prices low, they had to pay the fee that was charged for using the card. So just tack the fee onto your price. Figure out your expenses before you list.

lets see here if im correct
first you have to pay to put an item on ebay
then once its sold the money transfers to paypal where it takes a hit
and then to be bigger **bleep** they send you a invoice bill at the end of the month
people that disagree and say " oh you agree with terms and conditions are stupid" i dont sit there and work numbers in my head of how much money is going to be taken out of a certain sum of money. And for the people that do id hate to be you cause you obviously worry way to much which means your a weirdo... your the type of person to drive a ford focus or a toyota prius (even a hybrid people that are smug haha) that will try blocking you off by going the same speed as the car beside you on the highway so you cant pass... which obviously excites the crap out of you cause its always the same dang type of people that do it
**bleep** paypal and ebay i dont wanna hear anymore people that agree this is now only a hater thread

I am curious as to why I was charged a fee by paypal when the only thing I do on ebay is purchase items. One transaction was cancelled by the seller and I was issued a refund of $8.99. However I only got $8.43 because paypal thought I was selling something even though it said refund. If anyone can tell me why I am getting charged for something that I had absolutely no control over please respond!!

It sounds like the seller used the "Send Money" tab instead of the "Issue Refund" link. When you look at your PayPal account history page, what is the status of the original payment which you sent?

Hi Kenjermain.
wellll you are nearly right........ I have it as...
First you have to pay to out to put item on ebay:--- only you have to pay loads more if you start it a anything over 0.99 on a sliding scale upwards (of course) ((which is shooting the new guys Argument out of the sky))
Then you have to pay (think it is) 10% of the sale price to ebay,, so They love you if it sells well!!.
Then, when you are paid buy the buyer, you have to give between 3.4% and 3.9% of the sale price to Paypal..
Then there is the shipping cost... you have to also give between 3.4% to 3.9% of that to Paypal..
Just so you don't get fined or banned or another punitive measure taken against you,,,,and with reference to the New guy that is telling people to stop whining and put the shipping cost into the start price.. if you mention that, that is what you are doing...... the aforementioned actions will be taken against you.............
Oh.... I have just been advised by another Moderator on a different Thread I'M on, that, if you are taking around £1500 a month on Ebay (( I wish)) you get a cut price deal, you have to meet the ‘merchant rate criteria’.!!!!! But warning !! if you fall 1 penny below that you get reverted back to paying the full amount just like the rest of US..... As previously mentioned...... all right for some!!!
