I just read about the micro account. Thanks Jason - - you replied to "Question regarding fees".
I clicked on the link you inserted with your reply and got a brief explanation and the opportunity to sign up. I'm here because I'm confused....
I have a couple of questions and could use more info if you please...
You said I'd have to open a second account (can't toggle between fee structures) to recieve lower price payments (typically under $10.00)
Let's say I send 2 identical items to auction with a start price of .99 cents. One item sells for 5.00 and (whoo hoo) the second item sells for 30.00! When I create my listing, I have to indicate that I accept Paypal and insert my email address on where the payment should be sent, etc...
My question is: How does the 5.00 payment from Buyer 1 make it to my MICRO account and the 30.00 payment from Buyer 2 go to my REGULAR account? I start many of my auctions at 99 cents. Some result in a bidding war, some are sold at the last minute for 99 cents with one bid on it.
How would Paypal decide which payments get which fee structure and is there some kind of ceiling? Such as: none of my payments (from Buyers) over 10.00 would qualify for the lower rate/Micro account.

This info is found under the Pricing tab on the micro account link:
This rate applies to all payments going through the account regardless of payment size. For example, with the micropayments rate, it would cost $0.25 to receive a $4 payment and it would cost $1.05 to receive a $20 payment.
Why then, wouldn't I just want to get rid of my regualr account and use this one exclusively? If it matters, I do no International business - US only. AND... once in a blue moon I may sell a higher price item, ie: I just sold a new Blackberry for a couple hundred. What would happen with a payment like that?
Thanks again,
LoLo

I have both a MicroPayments account and a regular Business account. The micropayments account is setup for eBay listings under $10 and the regular account for over $10 items. When an eBay customer buys items like in your example, you will have the chance to edit the paypal email address when you send a combined invoice.
I hope that answers your question. It works well for me.

Thanks Keith! I suppose my next step is to set up a 2nd email address before moving on to setting up the micro account.
I'm so glad i found out about this. I look forward to saving a little on fees. Sure beats having to PAY to sell an item rather than making a little money on it.

You also need a second checking account. It's a PITA to get it going if you have to start from scratch, but once there, it's a godsend.
TIP:
If you have a domain (website) use an email address from that domain (i.e. sales @ yourdomain.com) That way, folks who see that email addy will notice you have a website.
