Help Desperately Needed

Hi

First off I am not that familiar with US postal services. However I have a query here about an item that was supposedly shipped on Tue 6 Dec 2011 and now here I am two weeks later and STILL haven't received my item (though I do live in the UK and have seen several similar stories). Basically, I ordered an item from an area of Texas in November and the item was shipped as stated on Tue 6 Dec.

However I have emailed the seller and he has claimed that the item was shipped first class insured - really? For the amount I paid for the item, surely this is an unsafe way to send items and I've heard its very unreliable as well. Why was the item not shipped tracked? I have heard you can track an item sent first class insured but only as far as the US post office and on US soil. After that, there is no feasible way to do it.

I have tried to email/fax the seller numerous times and have heard just once from the seller, stating the item was sent first class insured and that some of the items sent have only just appeared in the UK. How would he know this unless he has had feedback to some he dispatched to in the UK perhaps? I don't know. All I want is at least a copy of the tracking number to say the item was sent to the post office in the us and when it was received etc. so I have some type of link to follow.

As you can appreciate, I'm starting to get frustrated. What steps do I need to follow if the seller is being uncopperative in this matter as I've really exhausted all my avenues and I'm due to go away come Friday.

Thanks for any help.
