Series of unrecognised transactions

Hi folks,

I was hoping someone could advise:

There appears to be a number of unrecognized transactions leaving my bank account (all titled 'PAYPAL PAYMENT'). They occur around once but sometimes twice a month with variable amounts.

I have been checking all of my subscriptions this morning, yet nothing adds up. I am now suspecting this could be fraudulent. My bank advised me to contact PayPal and I have contacted the resolution center with multiple messages over the last couple of days.. yet the response time is very, very slow.

I have also attempted to call the UK number twice today and after being unable to get through (due to high call volumes), I am again referred to the resolution center with minimal response.

Could someone offer a little more advice? If an untrusted source does in fact have access to my account somehow and is using it to pay for things  'as and when', then what would the best course of action be to stop this immediately? I thought about removing my cards from the account (for now), would this work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

L.

If you bought something online with a debit or credit card and did NOT log into your Paypal account then of course it won't show on that Paypal account because you bought as a 'guest buyer'.
However your seller may have processed that payment using their Paypal 'card reader' and so Paypal would show on your bank or card statement.

If that is not the case then contact customer services AND your card issuer to query the transactions.

If you need to open a dispute for a 'guest buyer' transaction then you can.......

1. Phone Paypal customer services and see if they will open one for you (difficult at the moment due to covid)
OR
2. Contact your card issuer for a chargeback.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
