Modus Operandi of overseas sellers

Hi All

I'm new so excuse if this is in the incorrect place. I could not find a topic on this. So i ask if this has happened to anyone else and also post to help awareness of this scam that i am now twice affected by. Not sure if i can use Instagram's name but on both occasions there have been some great products advertised that i have not been able to buy over here. They are advertised in dollars and the websites look great and to my belief i thought were in the states. It is only after buying something that i realize the product will come from China. So you wait and wait and are given a tracking number that shows you for at least 3 weeks or more that it has not left China. Emails tell you to be patient due to Covid etc stalling you. Eventually the emails stop getting answered or bounce back from an address that does not work.

Now what they do is purposely send you a wrong delivery of something cheap and not what you ordered. This is how they got the tracking number. Once you open the dispute then they try and get you to close it by saying it will speed up them refunding you but this is a lie and once you close the dispute you will never be able to open it again. Then they will not refund you until you send back the wrong item you have. They also try and get you to keep it or give you a discount on your next purchase with them. In the end you are out of pocket because you are forced to send back the wrong item to get your refund and its expensive to do so.

So just a warning and obviously not all sellers do this as i have had some great priced products reach me in good time. But i am really happy with Pay Pal as they have always helped me and again sorry if this is not in the correct place. There should be a separate topic for warning people on the scams used through Pay Pal.
