I am a freelancer and I have been using Paypal for quite a while now. Now I withdrew $1000, Paypal holds it for 24 hours saying they will review it. Now I am bombarded with Paypal emails saying that the transactions that my former client paid me 1-2 months ago are now a reported case of unauthorized payment and I owe $480+. Total unauthorized amount as per Paypal is $1482.30 and since I tried to withdraw $1000 Paypal took it and told me to add $480+ on my account to remove negative balance. Why am I getting all of this??? Please help!!! 😞

An unauthorised transaction means that an account holders Paypal account was hacked and used without their consent by your ?buyer.
If Paypal check IP addresses etc and find in favour of the account holder then of course they are reimbursed.

However you would not lose out either as long as you met ALL the requirements of seller protection, sadly seller protection does not cover virtual or digital items.

Hi! I recently found out that my former client was the one who filed a dispute of the payment he made last 2 months ago.

What can I do with the $1000 that Paypal held? Paypal is also asking me to add money around $480+ to solve a negative balance. If I will add money, what will happen?
