I have just purchased an item off eBay, paid with my PayPal account but find that the payment is uncleared, being paid via an echeque and is pending until 28th may. I have over £26 credit in my PayPal account and the item is only £55, yet my account history shows that it is waiting for the full amount from my bank account!! I thought PayPal would automatically take the £26 first?? I have updated all the info on my cards just in case, even added a credit card but still it shows uncleared. Can I cancel this payment and re-pay it??

If your cards were not added or updated BEFORE you made the payment then if they were out of date etc the payment would go as an echeque. Pointless changing them after as that would not affect the payment already being processed.
If your cards are not up to date you can ask the seller to cancel the pending echeque so you can pay again as only a seller can cancel a pending echeque.
