Receiving money from a company that isn't purchasing anything

I was wondering if paypal would charge me a fee to receive some winnings I would like to withdraw from an online betting company. The company isn't purchasing from me so would that be subject to fees? The amount is under £500 too.

Hi Akkenru,

Welcome to the UK Community Forum!

PayPal charges a receiving fee for payments received into your account. For UK transactions it’s 3.4% + £0.20GBP of the full transaction amount. Transactions funded by balance or bank account between friends or family members do not incur fees. The example that you mention in your post, a payment from a betting company would be subject to the receiving fee.

Hope this helps resolve your query,

Maria

Ah, that is a shame. I wanted to check before I went ahead and did it because there are some other withdrawal methods available to me that don't attract any fees. My Paypal was just used to fund the betting account so was available for withdrawals too.

Thank you for your help
