Linking e-bay account and Paypal

Have tried the following as advised in other people's posts.

 - Go to www.ebay.co.uk and log in to your eBay account.
- Click ‘My eBay’ at the top of the page.
- Click ‘Account,’ then click ‘PayPal Account.’
- Click ‘Link My PayPal Account’ to go to the PayPal website.
- On the PayPal website, enter your PayPal account password and click, ‘Link My Account.’
- Click ‘Return to eBay.’

However no matter how many times I try it, the accounts will not link.

As this stops me from using some vendors it is annoying to say the least, especially as neither e-bay or PayPal won't to help out.

Any ideas I cannot be the on;y one having this difficulty.

Have you tried doing it the other way round..?

Log in to PayPal

Select Profile

Select My Selling Preferences

The 2nd option down is 'Link my eBay ID to my PayPal account.' click update.

You then have the option to add your eBay account.

The stupid thing is that this already showed my e-bay identity, but I updated anyway. However e-bay will still not link to the account and according to e-bay this is Paypal's problem. And despite them being owned by the same company, PayPal don't want to know as they haven't answered my help required e-mails.
