I got an email tonight saying I need to hurry up and spend $1,035 or I am out of Advantage.

I would be concerned, but I honestly can't think of one single thing i ever got from the program except a crummy hat that took 4 months to arrive.

In fact, I want to resign the program because i certainly hate the idea of being tossed out of a group I never asked to join and i have gotten nothing from.  Sort of insulting to wait and be notified i am just a regular paypaler again.

About a month ago I got an email from PayPal Advantage advertising a fancy dinner and a reception for local Advantage members. I replied immediately, took time off work (because the event was supposed to happen on Tuesday), changed my schedule, inconvenienced a lot of coworkers, including my boss, bought new formal clothes, etc. Now, about a month later, they informed me that "due to overwhelming response to the Advantage VIP event, we were unable to process your registration event." Hello???? After a month of waiting and me RVSPing immediately????

And they generously offered me instead a "PayPal Advantage jacket"  - do they really expect me to be a walking advertising for their company after they did this to me??? What about at least a gift card instead - I can't even return the clothes anymore, it was over a month ago!

I had the exact thing happen to me.  On the 1st of August they asked for people to register and said space was limited. They should have had the computer cut off the list automatically.  I was so excited when I got an email back on the same day that did not appear to be automated as it had a personal email address. I assumed I was good to go.

My brother who is an attorney lives a mile from the hotel and I made family arrangements for him to take time off work as well to meet up with me afterwards and I was going to stay at the hotel which I am very familiar with as my youngest sister just got married on the grounds of it. I love that hotel. I too spent quite a bit of money preparing and buying clothes. It was very important to me that I attend. I have been selling on eBay for 13 years and I am a single mom and I wanted to make business conections and show my husband to be that this is a legit business. A jacket doesn't suffice. All it will do is make him laugh at me.  I am hurt and embarassed, but I guess I learned my lesson as it wasn't until 24, yes 24 days later that I received the dreaded email saying that I had been taken off THE LIST!  I am qualified for the next two years in a row.  Guess that's not good enough.  I am so disapointed. Then they put the video of the occassion on this site to rub salt in our wounds. 😞

I would think PayPal would be more tackful in their handling of the matter.

Daf Advantage. More unsolicited email. Setting PayPal notifications to max restrictive - let's see how many SPAMs I get because of the eBay / PayPal Marketing machine.

I'd also  like to opt out. I think it's complete nonsense for paypal to "invite" me into this "special club" with no discernible benefits and a ton of spam to wade through. It's insulting that we weren't given an opt-out option, which I'd like to exercise immediately.

I even sent an email about this last week, but typically it was ignored.
