payment clearing times after transfer from paypal to someones bank account

Was just wondering how long it takes for money to clear when sending a payment to someone??

I seem to get all sorts of different times but i was under the impression that payment was almost immediate & that the recipient

had access to those funds as soon as they hit their account?

Any help on this would be greatly recieved.

Usually within a couple of hours but sometimes it can be up to 24 hours for personal family / friends payments.
