Witholding money !

Hi everyone !

My Mum has just opened an Ebay and a PayPal account and to cut a long story short she started selling stuff, money from her buyers was payed into her Paypal account, so she sent her items to the now new owners who bought it, only to then be told she couldnt have her money for 3 WEEKS !!!!!

WTF ???????

I find this utterly ridiculous and it cant be too far off illegal either.

So PayPal can hold YOUR money after you have sent goods and the buyer has recieived them for 3 weeks !!!!

So they are collecting millions of pounds in interest compliments of OUR CASH ???

One word THEFT !!

This is beyond ridiculous and they have NO RIGHT to do this.

My Uncle is a Solicitor and he said this is as near to theft as you can get without it being class as theft.

She is thinking of taking legal action against Pay Pal. I have told her to hold fire so I can talk to themfirst.

Anyone else had this problem ?

Sorry for sounding so angry on my first post but my Mum is a pensioner and cant afford to have HER money held onto for no good reason at all.

Thanks Baz x

@PhatBaz

Firstly its in the user agreement (APPROVED by the F.S.A) in the U.K which you agreed to when you joined.

Secondly its the "new seller hold" that EVERY SINGLE seller on ebay goes through when they start.

Thirdly its for buyer protection with new sellers and so most of us did not mind as we need buyers to feel safe using ebay.

Lastly its best to read up on things before you post slating ebay / paypal as its rare you have to wait 21 days. I never waited more than a week as if you send the item TRACKABLE then the payment is released on delivery date + 3 days.

More info in the links below for you.

Thanks for your reply and solution albeit slightly arrogant sounding.

Firstly my mother is a pensioner so cant go looking through pages of legal gumph !

Secondly If i so chose I WILL slate as you so eloquently put it, who I please.

I did say in my thread I was sorry if I sounded angry but I have never had to put up with this from either Pay Pal or Ebay

It is also to do with, I have just found out people not leaving you feedback and you not leaving tracking numbers for courier parcels.

I have just put the tracking numbers in for her albeit two and a half weeks after item was delivered and it has alrready changed the funds availibility date from next Monday 28th  to tommorrow the 24th.

Thanks again for your reply.

@PhatBaz

Slating a company for doing EXACTLY what they state in their user agreement is rather arrogant.

Stating its illegal when its approved by the FSA is rather arrogant.

Threatening legal action with ridiculous ill informed advice from a so called solicitor is rather arrogant.

My post however was factual and accurate.

Oh and your welcome.
