ok well i sold an iphone over craigslist and the guy paid with paypal but i got an email saying that I will not have the money in my paypal account unless I send the tracking number of the shipping to him and paypal. is this true?

NO, they pay and the money goe into your Paypal account.

Does it show a "paypal hold" does it show the payment at all
