Fraud

I had £240 stolen from my bank account via Paypal, from EBay activity by a hacker 9 days ago. I phoned PP the same evening. The helpful lady said she could see it was activity from another computer/ user, other than me. She said I would be refunded immediately in case I was in danger of going overdrawn. Since then neither I nor the seller have heard from PP. the money is out of my account and being held by PP. I'm unimpressed with not being able to find a way to get an answer out of them. Also as PP is meant to be super secure, I have now disconnected my bank account from my P P account as this could happen again. Any helpful suggestions pse? Thanks, Sarah

Hopefully you changed your PayPal Account password and security questions.

PayPal is secure however, many people use weak passwords or at some point in time have accessed their PayPal Accounts thru a link in an email instead of always going direct thru their web browser.   Unfortunately have seen it happen more than once.

I don't believe PP is that secure. this morning I changed my password and received notification from PP. Ten minutes later I received another email saying a transaction had been declined by my credit card company. How can they hack my account so quickly?

Pity the villains don't put that intelligence and energy in to something useful to society rather than to their own greed. At least your CC company were on top of their security it sounds.

Thanks, Sarah

Yes I changed by password immediately, thanks.

Your point about not accesing through an Email link is interesting.  I went in to this forum today through the Email notification link as I couldn't find my way to it through the PP site!

Thanks, Sarah

Never click on a link to log into paypal and enter sensitive log in or financial info..............if its a spoof email you will give away your sign in or account information.

To access the boards go to Help top of EVERY paypal page and the link to the community board is on there.
