Funds availability on local pick-up sales

I'm confused about how to get my funds faster in this scenario - currently it indicates the PayPal funds transferred to me on the sale of a TV today will not be available until March 4. Supposedly I could cut that time down by shipping quickly and providing a tracking number, but the problem is I "shipped" IMMEDIATELY - I threw the TV in my car and drove it to the buyer myself 40 miles away - thus, there IS no tracking number and no carrier. I marked it as shipped, but how can PayPal confirm that my buyer has already received the product? He payed me immediately, I delivered the item immediately and got positive feedback from him, he says it's working fine - and I have to wait until March 4 for funds to be released?

Hi brerg8r,

Here's tha applicable text from eBay's 2011 Spring Seller Update page and the link to the page...

What can I do to get my funds more quickly?

The most important thing you can do to help get your funds more quickly is ship the same day your buyer pays and follow good shipping practices. Based on your shipping method and the shipping information you provide, here’s when your funds should be available:

  • 3 days after we can confirm the order was delivered, if you pay for shipping and print labels on eBay. The eBay label printing service is free, your tracking information uploads automatically, and you’ll get funds to help cover shipping.

  • 7 days after your latest estimated delivery date if you don’t upload tracking information but you mark the item as shipped in My eBay OR

  • 21 days after the buyer pays, if you don’t provide tracking information, mark the item as shipped, or the estimated delivery date can’t be calculated.

Please keep in mind that it may take longer to get funds if your buyer reports a problem with the transaction.

How is the estimated delivery date calculated?

Your estimated delivery date is determined using a combination of your handling time plus the shipping carrier’s published estimated delivery time for the service selected by your buyer. You enter your “handling time” when you list items to sell on eBay. This is how long it takes before you ship the item. “Shipping time” is based on the service that the buyer selects. For example if you specify a handling time of 2 days and you choose a UPS or USPS service from the pull-down menu on eBay with a shipping time of 2 to 5 business days, your buyer will see estimated delivery as 4 to 7 days.

What about items with local pick-up?

If your buyer pre-pays for the item with PayPal and uses local pick-up for an item purchased on eBay.com or eBay.ca (either the English or French language version, but not using eBay’s Classified Ad format), your funds will be available 21 days after the buyer pays.
