can I turn off my paypal account for a short time if lets say I cant find my card but I know I have it just need to find it ?

Hmmm...not seeing an option for that sort of thing. You could report it "lost or stolen" which would kill it and you'd have a new one in your hands pretty quickly. There's another option in there that simply says "I don't want to use this card anymore" but that just closes the card, so then you'd need a new one sent if you opened it up again anyway. I think reporting it lost or stolen is your best bet.
