Does anyone have experience with pre-sales? I am considering pre-selling items on my website. I know that the items have to be shipped within 20 days and that I must label the transaction as a "Pre-order". Does Paypal have a system where it will reserve the payment against the credit card until the item is shipped and charged? Is there a button or Paypal function for pre-sales? Or do I have to keep a separate record of the purchaser's credit card info and then input it into Paypal when the item ships and is charged? Thanks!
With Payments Standard, there's no features or options to support what you have in mind.
It's possible with Payments Pro. With Pro you have control over the customer experience, the customer stays on your web page, they never see a PayPal Screen. PayPal just processes the credit card info for you so it does not matter if it's a pre-paid transaction.
