I got bilked out of $100

I have a problem and I don't know what to do next. I bought a machine on eBay and used my Visa thru Pay Pal to pay for it. After a few attempts at having a Freight & Crate fail to pick up the machine (not all the freights fault, some seller fault in there) I offered the seller an additional $100 to be on site and available for the freight pickup. He agreed and I sent him $100 via PayPal Credit. The freight pick up was scheduled for today. Yesterday tyhe seller called me and said he was all ready to go, he has downloaded the BOL and everything. He had previously left me a voice mail late last week asking me to violate eBay policy and cancel the auction after the machine shipped so he wouldn't have to pay the $70 eBay fee. I do have the voice mail as evicence. I didn't respond until he called yesterday, but I wasn't about to risk my eBay account for that. I wanted to talk him out of it, so when he asked, I just said it's not a good idea and asked if he had thought it thru completely. He asked, like what? I said, if I cancel then eBay will refund to me the whole amount. He said, not unless I (Him) approve it. I said I don't think that's right, but I really do not want to put myself at risk. He went off on me, "Risk! after all I have been thru I have the risk!! and blam, he hangs up.

He then goes on eBay and cancels the transaction the day before the Freight & Crate is to arrive (Today) and threatens me with hundreds of dollars in fees, time, storage, etc. Plust he has the $100 bucks I gave him thru PayPal Credit.

I submitted a dispute for the $100 in PayPal, then I received a message this morning from PayPal that the seller had responded and to go view the seller response. When I go to my PayPal account there is nothing! No response, my disput is gone and disappeared. This guy basically ripped me off for the $100 bucks and I think is trying to take the $700 I gave him for the machine. I thought PayPal was safer than this. Oh, and I get a text from the seller... it says, "Nice Try...but PayPal canceled the dispute in my favor... don't call me or I will consider it harassment". I didn't talk to him since he hung up on me.

Anyone give me some advise please.

Thanks.

If you funded that paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and ask them to chargeback the fee for you.

Thanks but; "He agreed and I sent him $100 via PayPal Credit.".

I suppose payPal Credit is not treated like having "Plastic" in ones hand. I've been reading others posts here and it seems PPC is not supportive.

Thanks for the reply.

So after sending my first email request well over 24 hours ago and not receiving a reply from Pay pal, I jut sent PayPal my second request for an understand of what just happened to me and I have received my second notification that I'd be contacted in 24 hours after submitting my question via email.

How can a case be "opened" and then "closed" in just a few hours and Pay Pal never asked me to respond to what the seller has said. Which I just found the transaction and read the response and which is a complete lie and I can prove it!

I feel very dissapointed with PayPal and this process. I always had trust in PP and now I feel much different. I've been a member of eBay since 1999 and a member of PP since it's inception. I feel it very disheartning to be treated this way by a proclaimed reputable company.
