I have just brought this item and can't get it working it connects OK but always says the card reader needs updating and when i proceed it gets half way through and turns my phone off
I have had it working yesterday for about an hour but later in the day when trying again no luck

As there's can be various reasons from your phone make and model to the OS system verision, there's no way to easily troubleshoot your issue thru the community forum.
You can try removing the App, restarting your phone, reinstalling the App. (Assuming you have a compatible phone and it's OS is current.)
It's also possible you have a bad reader, (it happens).
