Refund to deleted card

I accidentally deleted my card when Paypal had taken 1 pound off it and were waiting was waiting for my 4 digit number....what do I do to get my pound back??

Re- add and confirm your card, if both deposits are not refunded then contact customer services and request the first one is refunded as well.

Can I not just request it back rather than adding my card back again, as they have my info anyways from taking it?
