E-check Estimate clearance date

Is there any possibility of an e-check getting cleared before the estimated date? I would also want to know when actually the funds get debited from the buyer's bank account. Because the buyer has all the time in the world to first make an e-check payment and then withdraw the money from his/her bank account before the estimated clearance date?

Its normally around that date but no one can say for sure if it will clear before.

Secondly yes of course the echeque can fail which is why you never send anything until it has cleared.

@kernowlass Thank you so much for the reply. But do the sender needs to have the funds on their bank account before making an e-check payment? And if the sender cancels the e-check. Would I be notified instantly?

An echeque can fail when paypal go to take the funds and that can happen from a few hours up to a few days later.

If they have no funds it would fail, as soon as it fails (cancelled or no funds) then you would see that info in your paypal account.

I have an e-check which was supposed to be cleared by today. But on the classic site it says tomorrow(13/02/2018). I'm worried of it doesn't go through. No updates from PayPal yet. I'm wondering if the clearance date is tomorrow then why hasn't the check being cleared by PayPal since these many days. Would the sender be able to withdraw the money from the bank once he/she has already made an e-check transfer?

Paypal uses the cheapest, slowest ways of transfering funds and that is why 'normally' they credit the seller and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer.

BUT if the buyer does not have a back up card linked to their paypal account then paypal often don't take that risk and so it goes as an echeque and you and the buyer have to wait for it to clear.

It goes via ACH and so is not completed until it hits your paypal account.
