first time receiving money

Hi, I had money sent to me by friend, we both have UK paypal accounts, it states the payment is complete.

AM I correct in thinking it may take up tp 21 days to go through,  I only have my credit card attached to my paypal account, will it be credited there, or should I add bank account and transfer money.

Couple of thoughts here:

First, when someone sends you money, the money is deposited into your PayPal Account Balance.

In order to avoid holds and/limits on your account, it should be verified.  (Meaning you have linked and confirmed a bank account - note, also having a credit card linked and confirmed serves as additional proof of ID and a backup funding source.)

If the sender used their bank account as the funding source, it can add extra time to the transaction process.  For example, the sender will see "completed" on their end however, it can take up 4 days for the money to be credited to your PayPal Account Balance.   In addition, if your account is not verified, PayPal can hold the funds anywhere between a few days up to 21 days.
