Problem paying for Steam DLC

I'm usually tight with my money because most of it goes into working on my PC, but for the last few months I've been wanting to buy some of the DLC for Borderlands 2. After waiting a week for the transfer from my bank account into my paypal account to complete, I got an email yesterday saying that the transfer was complete. I double-checked by logging into my Paypal account, and the balance was there. I put the items in the steam store cart, entered my payment info in, and selected paypal as the payment option. It then referred me to a page hosted by paypal with the steam logo up top (must be a custom page for steam), with a prompt to log in. I logged in, and the two payment options were:
*add a credit card for instant payment
*add money from your bank account (this will take 6-8 days)
As I had JUST waited 6-8 days transferring money INTO my paypal account for this, and now apparently can't use the money in it for payment, I was livid. I've been awake (haven't gone to sleep yet) since, and I've been in a foul mood since. Seeing as this is the first time using paypal, and how it won't work despite me doing everything I was supposed to, I'm about ready to write paypal off as useless garbage, transfer my money back to my bank account, and close my paypal account. I'm infuriated and frustrated, and it's looking like from now on I'll be recommending people to stay away from paypal in the strongest possible terms.

Hi Foxx_in_ Soxx
If you link your card/bank to your ppal account as back up funds, you wont have to transfer money from your bank account to pay for items, as ppal will take it straight from your back up source if your ppal account is empty
You never have to have money in your ppal account if to make purchase if they are linked
If you pay for "goods" using ppal you will also have buyers protection
Read up on how ppal works and how to protect yourself as a buyer

I find it incredible how oblivious and unreated to my issue your post seems. I linked my chequing account to paypal, that's how I got money into my paypal account in the first place. I do not need back up funds, and my account is not empty. I want to use THE MONEY I HAVE IN MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW to buy something. Why is this so impossible? I could provide a screencap of the relevant page if that might help, but I don't think that would change anything.
Your post reads like advertising. I have absolutely no interest in other paypal nonsense if it's so useless that it won't let me make a simple purchase with the money I spent a week transferring into my paypal account. If I haven't heard a sensible answer by tomorrow telling me how I can use the funds currently in my account without irrelevant nonsense like linking credit cards I don't have or blather about backup funds, I will transfer my money off, write off paypal as useless garbage, ask that my account be closed, and never bother with this worthless thing again.

Well, after having my support email ignored and not one useful constructive reply in this thread, I've decided to transfer my money back to my bank account. Paypal is clearly useless, and you have lost me as a customer for life. All I wanted was to put money into my paypal account and use it to Oh, and thanks for that 'confirm email' nonsense that stands in the way of transferring your money back. I guess you people like to try to follow the Ferengi first rule of aquisition: "Once you have their money, you never give it back." I had heard some horror stories about Paypal, but I had thought maybe most of them were just flukes. I regret giving you the benefit of the doubt. When the opportunity arises, I will strongly advise people against using this service.
Congratulations on enraging me and turning me off as a customer. I'm frustrated and at my wits' end after trying to make some sort of use of paypal, after doing everything I was supposed to and getting no result.
Oh, and by the way, while I'm at it, thanks for that censorious and fascistic stabbing of Wikileaks in the back by denying payment processing to them. That's superb ethics right there.
*slow clap*
