Am i using paypal wrong?

Hello everyone,
 I recently found a good job, so i started to buy things on ebay daily, yet all i do is put money in the paypal card, and buy stuff online; since i made the account, i've noticed something, my paypal account keep saying 0 money ALWAYS, even if it keeps tracking of the money i put on it and spend on ebay; am i doing something wrong? because i have no idea where the tiny bits of money left after every bought stuff is kept, since my account always say 0; does paypal keep this money? Also, i don't have a bank account nor do i want one.

How are you loading the PayPal card?  Cash load at walgreens, cvs, walmart etc etc...?  The money you put on the card should be shown in the paypal account balance.  The fact it is not would concern me while at the same time the purchases are still going through is even more puzzeling.  Do the purchases all show on your paypal screen and if so when you click on them where does it say the funding source is?
