Removing Bank Account

I have another bank account and a card attached to my paypal. I am trying to remove an old bank account so that the bank can delete it. However, I keep getting the message 'Sorry, we are unable to complete this request at this time. Please try again later.' 

Why can I not delete this account when I have other payment methods and it's not my preffered?

Check your subscriptions or pre-approved payments and make sure none of them are due to be paid from that old bank account.
