How to approve hold on payment

I did a lot of research online and can’t find anything that helps me. Not too long ago I gave some friends a ride to the airport and they paid me for gas through PayPal. PayPal says there’s a hold on my funds for 21 days and it wants me to add a tracking label and say the item has shipped. Now obviously there is no item to be shipped so I’m just really lost here. Any help will be greatly appreciated 💕

Its down to how the payment was SENT to your account.

1. If your friend had chosen the send money > goods / services option then paypal would see you as a seller and apply the new seller hold. They would also charge you a fee.

2. If your friend had chosen the send money > family / friends option then you would have had the payment instantly.

You could try getting your friend to call customer services and authorise them to release the payment sooner as it was sent the wrong way?
