Connected Path Boarding merchant_id

Hi, based on this docs: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/marketplaces/connected/url/

it's said that merchant_id is The unique ID of the merchant in your system. Required if the partner intends to use REST APIs to show the merchant’s account status.

what does this mean and where can i find the merchant_id?

The section in the documentation:

"Show your merchant's account status"

Says:

"To show status information for merchants who were onboarded by a partner, include the ID of the partner and the ID of the merchant in the request:"

But, how do you know your merchant ID to begin with?  Where do you get this ID to construct the request?  The documentation is not sufficient.
