Amount of transaction is already filled in as $20. How can I take other amounts from clients?

I set my paypal account up and have rarely used it as most of the work I do is for free. I was just informed the only amount anyone can give me is $20 when they click on the paypal donate button. I just tried and they are correct. How do I learn more about allowing people to pay other amounts. I tried tutorials but am not getting anywhere. Thanks, Diane

If you used the online button creator and the code is saved or "hosted" on the PayPal Servers, you can go back and edit your Donation item button.  Under "Contribution amount", select "Donors enter their own contribution amount" and resave your code.  That's all you have to do, no need to recopy the edited code.   Then when someone clicks on your Donate button, they are taken to the PayPal Screen where they can enter any amount.

If your code is "encrypted", you would have to make the same change as above however, you would need to recopy the code to your web page or site as the encrypted code is not stored on the PayPal Servers.

If you did not use the online button creator or your code is non-hosted or is not encrypted, there's lots of options for coding Donation buttons as the code is not stored on the PayPal Servers.  This method allows the most flexibility.  You can have radio button selections with specific amounts, minimum and/or maximum amounts, enter any amount on the screen, etc.  I could provide an example of a manual coded button but, I don't know what you have in mind.
