PayPal is charging a fee on a personal domestic transfer and converting it to Euros.

I'm trying to send my granddaughter a sum of money in Dollars.

We both live in the same U.S. state so this is a domestic personal transfer.

The problem: PayPal is converting it to Euros and wants to charge a $4.99 fee.

This has never happened before. What could cause this and how do I correct it?

(This may be relevant: the last transaction was a donation to The Document Foundation headquartered in Berlin, Germany ... but that never caused problems with subsequent transfers in the past.)

Hello @Rich_Allen,

Welcome to PayPal Community Forum an dthank you for posting!

I understand your concern about the fees while sending money domestically. Please be informed that the fee for sending domestic transactions applies if the receiver has different primary currency on their account. Kindly take a look at this link to know more about the fees. If the currency on their account is USD and still beng charged with fees, please reach out to our customer support team through the available contact options on our website.

Ayesha
