Wallet not used

Good day, I wanted to transfer money from my PayPal wallet to a family member in another country, but when the payment went to go through, the wallet did not pop up as an option and I had to transfer it from my bank account. I am based in South Africa and the family member is based in Australia. Why was I unable to use my preferred Wallet? I had more than the needed funds on my PayPal wallet and it is set as my preferred payment method. I have tried on the app as well as on the desktop.

Were the funds in the correct currency?

Only paypal only auto-converts from a bank or card and not from a balance.

You would need to convert yourself OR get the recipient to add that currency to their wallet as a receiving currency.

Thank you! The receiver only had it so that AUD could be sent and I have it in USD, so that was the reason then. I appreciate the assistance!
