Empty Box from eBay?

I bought AirPods on eBay on Mar 7 2024 and when parcel arrived the box was empty.

So I file a claim with PayPal and they say I need to prove it was a crime by reporting it to police.

I have to prove a box was empty? seriously

I sent a photo and am afraid to ask police for fear of being laughed at?

How do you prove a box was empty.

I think PayPal is starting to act like the dishonest guys on eBay.

Police would just give you a crime number which you can provide to paypal so that they can proceed with the dispute from that.

When you report a crime you get a number, you don't have to prove anything.

I could report a theft but I don't have to prove someone stole from me to report it.
