Good afternoon to all,
I would like to ask how to get my money back, if it is at all possible. One week ago I found a good offer for a reel-to-reel tape machine on german eBay-kleineanzeige. I bought some items on this platform before and everything was perfect. So, when I saw this offer I told to myself why not to make deal here again. I wrote a mail to send to seller and we started communications and everything looked fine. We confirmed shipping options I gave to seller my shipping adress and he gave me his account. Because i had some Paypal transaction limits I made payment trough PayPal and the second one trough the bank transfer, but the bank transfer is not relevant on this topic.
The seller send me also his ID card. When I made the payment he told me that the next day he will send me a tracikng number and here started the problems. After my email he did not response anymore.
My situation is even worse, because I made this transaction via "friend and family" option as he requested...(He knew very well what he is doing) I started to have a little bit of fear, that something is not allright, so I made two days after he told me that he send the package and stop responding without telling me the tracking-number a "fake" account on this platform and asked him again about the tape machine. He responsed me that the tape machine is still available. At this time I knew that I was scamed, I wrote him some other e-mails but he did not response anymore.
So my question is, If I have all the communication from my both accounts (real and the "fake") printscreen of the offer and also payments to get back my money back? Or my money are lost forever?
Can anyone help me how to solve this situation? I spend really long on this tape-machine...
Thank You very much for help.
Jozef

A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
However as it is a gift payment, there is also no buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.
If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade paying his Paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time.
You would also not be able to open a dispute (apart from one citing an unauthorised transaction), which would be automatically closed as you did authorise the initial payment.
Be careful as using that option for purchasing goods is against Paypal rules and can lead to account limitation.
If you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately they may decline as well as it was a gift payment.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
