I received a request for money from someone I barely know....How would they get my email and/or phone# to send this request?

I'm sorry to hear that you received an invoice or money request you were not expecting. If this is someone you know at all and you're sure you've never given them your phone number or email address, they may have done a web search using any information you might have given to them (such as your full name and general location), to try to find more identifying information. 

 

Many people don't realize just how much their email addresses and phone numbers are out there in the wild. Your personal information is protected when it is used through PayPal, but there are many other places where you would also use that information that are not nearly as conscientious. This doesn't mean that they have your password, mind you. Just your email address or your phone number is enough to send you an email, SMS, or money request, but they'd have to also have your password to access your account. Keep using strong and unique passwords to protect your accounts.

 

If there is a cancel option next to the invoice or money request, you can certainly use that. If there is not, the request can be safely ignored.
