PayPal claimed my account wasn’t subject to fraud but it was

My account was hacked - I live in New Zealand and the fraudster in the US bought gym gear from a US and had it sent to a forwarding company in Portland! PayPal say this is not an unauthorised transaction - seriously? How can I argue their decision?

Paypal doesn't cover you for all unauthorised transactions.

If the 'hack' was done because your email was breached or you answered a spoof email or gave your password away by mistake or other reasons you may not be covered.

In that case your best bet is to contact customer services and check.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

No bank refuses to refund your money for an "unauthorized '" withdrawal! No matter the events that took place! If they didn't ask you to verify the amount it's on them! Master Charge and Visa Debit both request you're personal approval if the amount exceeds your average charge, or their is increased activity. PayPal is the only financial institution that personally decides whether to return your money! Which is why you should "close" your account before they "snare" your money!
