I've been a victim of identity theft, where my personal info has been used in creating another Paypal account with a negative balance. i received an email from Paypal on my legit account about a month ago saying $580 has been taking out of my account to settle a negative balance of this other Paypal account which wasn't created by me. I've been contacting customer support about this issue for a month and nothing has been done. I recently received a mail from Paypal claiming after investigations they found out the fake account has same info as my real account and the fake account also has same financial institution as my real account also my devices has been used to log onto that account. Non of this is true, I believe its all made up because I haven't given anyone access to any of my devices. I need assistance please

I do understand your concern regarding the negative balance in the other account. In this situation, your best option would be to contacting our support team. You can contact us by clicking the contact us option at the bottom of PayPal page or send us a message through our Twitter(@AskPayPal) and Facebook page for additional assistance.

This also happened to me and PayPal after their 'internal investigation ' still deemed me liable. I didnt understand how someone did this with just a name and address. PayPal allows this to happen as they r a big Corp and still do nothing. I have debt collectors chasing me for a debt I don't owe.
