I'm not sure, but I know what you can do.
Go in your PayPal account and create an invoice to yourself for the maount of the gift card.
Send the invoice to yourself. Then go pay it with the gift card. The money should now be in your PayPal account.
Hope this helps!
The question I should have asked is
"Is your gift card a gift card or a gift card that has cash value?"
If you can only make purchases with it, then you won't get any cash from that card. If it has cash value, like go to an ATM machine, then you should be able to use the card anyway you want.
I just wanted to pop in and provide a little clarity here.
If you're adding a pre-paid card, you want to try to add it like a regular credit card, not send yourself money.
Well, for one, you can't pay yourself in PayPal.
For two, using a card to send yourself funds is actually a violation of your agreement with the card company, and is considered "cash advancing fraud."
For your safety, please don't commit fraud or ask others to commit fraud.
