Hi Simon,
The email address that you have received a number of emails recently from is a genuine PayPal email address. If you are unsure if the email was sent by PayPal or not, the best thing for you to do is go directly to the PayPal website and access your account directly.
How to ensure that emails are really from PayPal:
• Check the greeting. We always address you by your first and last name, or the business name on your PayPal account
• See if the email asks for personal information. A PayPal email will never ask you for any of the following:
• Bank account numbers
• Debit and credit card numbers
• Driver's license number
• Email addresses
• Your full name
• Your password, or answers to your PayPal account security questions
Check for attachments. We will never send an attachment or software updates to install on your computer.
If you think you've received a fraudulent email, forward the email to spoof@paypal.com and then delete it from your mailbox. You can also click here for more information on our Safety Advice centre.
I hope this information helps.
David.

Hi Niza643,
The email address that you have provided is not a valid PayPal email address. If you do not see evidence of the payment being received in your PayPal account and you have been asked to ship the item or send money using Western Union, I would be sure the email was not sent by PayPal.
The best thing to do is forward the entire email to us at spoof@paypal.com and we can investigate it further for you. You may also wish to contact this person and advise them that you are not sending the item until you have received a payment in to your PayPal account. Or you may wish to simply stop communicating with them and to try sell the item again.
I hope this information helps ,
David.

Hi,
A buyer from Nigeria won the bid on a computer that I posted on eBay.
The buyer assures he payed and the money was deducted from his PayPal account and now he is demanding me to ship the computer and send him the shipping number. However, I haven't seen ANY kind of evidence in my paypal account. I DO NOT have any money on hold, or anything.
I got an email from paypal saying that the payment from the buyer was APPROVED but I still DO NOT see any proof on my paypal account.
Should I ship the computer? What should I answer him? PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

Hi aletrom,
No- do not ship the item!
This email is not from PayPal and this is not a genuine buyer, if you were paid for an item you would see the funds sitting in your PayPal balance.
Please forward all suspicious emails to spoof@paypal.com. Here is some additional information on our seller protection policy- https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security

That's right! I just had a person contacted me supposedly from Nigeria as well, trying to buy my iPhone. She told me that she had already depossited the amount in may PayPal account and asking me to send my product. I checked my account and had nothing pending to be credited, so it was an scam attempt again. I also had a similar scam attempt last week, that one from China. The page they contacted me through was <removed>. I´ve already alerted both, OLX and PayPal about this.
Let's stop this criminals as soon as possible!
Tks and regards from Perú!
