Paypal tells me to link a card at checkout, when I do, it says I do not have a linked card.

Hi! I was trying to pay for an item from an online retailer today, and when it redirected me to the PayPal payment screen, none of my three payment methods were displayed. Instead, it asked me to link a new card because "You have not linked a credit or debit card to your account", when I have one confirmed card and one unconfirmed card which is still being confirmed. I payed for a ~135 AUD item using the unconfirmed card earlier successfully. When I link a card that is already linked to my account, it gives me an error message which says "There is no payment method added to your PayPal account. Please link a card or bank account to continue.". I do not know why this is happening.
