We have a charity account which receives payments to several different departments. Is there a way that transactions for the different departments can be automatically split within PayPal so that all transactions for Dept A will show separately from Dept B for instance? They will also need to be shown separately on reports with reports for the individual departments being required.

There's no built in features to do what you have in mind automatically. As we don't know how you're deciding to credit one department over another - there may be an option but, it's just a guess here. As you can up to 8 email addresses associated with your PayPal Account, each one is capable of receiving funds, you could associate a different email address for each department. Then when you receive funds, you'll know which department the funds are credited to. Many business owners do this when they have 2 or 3 different web sites - they will associate a different email address with each site, that way when an order is placed, they know which site the order came from.
