My mobile number changed a few years ago but I never updated my profile.
Now I can't log in as Paypal wants to send me a text on the old number to verify the account.
I've tried logging in from a different browser which doesn't work.
Also tried using the Help Chat system, but this also requires me to log in to proceed.
Tried ringing the help support number but spent ages going round and round in circles with the automated options, could not get to a point of speaking to an actual person.
Funny thing is, when I selected 'Ask the Community' to access this forum, it allowed me to log in to create this profile to do this!
Really stuck as to how to resolve. Would really appreciate if anyone can offer some help with this please?

You can try some other ways first but to be honest calling is your best bet to get things sorted.
Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.
1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a private direct message via Social Media on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram pages.
Advice is voluntary.

Thank you very much for your honest answer. I did not expect paypal customer service so bad. Is there a way to close the account and get all the balance transferred to the bank account without logging in?

Hello, I'm asking for my friend since he can't log in to his PayPal, so, he can't log in to his PayPal even tho he knows his e-mail and his password, but it's asking him to verify his account with a code that's gonna be sent to his mobile phone that he's not using anymore, and if he selects any options for help, it just says that he can contact support, but in order to contact them he needs to log in, and he can't log in for obvious reason, so he's looking for help, what should he do, he knows both his mail and password but he has no access to the old mobile phone since it doesn't exist anymore

I haven't used PayPal for a few years, I downloaded the app again, now when I try to access the account it asks me to confirm my identity, as shown in the image below. But to do so it is sending an SMS to a number that I no longer have access to.
How can I resolve this?
