Why, whenever I login to PayPal, do I get an e-mail advising 'We noticed a new device login' when I only log in on my own desk-top computer?
Also, why does it show middlesbrough mdb uk? [A new device logged in to your PayPal account, xxxx@hotmail - middlesbrough mdb uk - date & time]

I'm having the problem as well. I made a payment to a seller for an item which all went well. However, a few hours later I received an email from Paypal saying that a new device had logged in to my account and that I could remove the device in my security settings if I did not want the device remembered. The name was manchester man uk but the seller I bought the item from was in Cardiff and I live nowhere near Manchester.
I could not see the device on the list when I went to remove it. If the seller wanted to access my address to send me the item that I bought from him then would this have shown up on Paypal as an "access to my account"?
Yes, I have had this. My concern was that if I had somehow got malware in my laptop software (Friend's aunt was hacked during the week at about the same time. The laptop seemed to struggle opening the email portal for my broadband provider) when I logged in. Would it be possible, that the malware could let something "piggy back" me through the log in procedure. On a par, with someone looking over your shoulder at the cashpoint type scenario.
I do have AVG, which obviously is trying to get me to go premium with the cover "your IP ID is visible etc..." Current days, everyone is trying to offer you a service/everything is a threat. No wonder it is thought by some. Easier to have that box of money stashed underneath the bed and be done with it.
I actually live near Middlesbrough and my message says that "A Manchester Man" has accessed my account. Significantly, however, I have, in fact, accessed my account from a new device in the last few hours so the situation in my case is as Rachel describes. I'm taking no further action.
Could it be that by telling PayPal it wasn't you (when it was), you're setting yourself up for another email next time you use your new device?
Starting a couple of months ago, every time I log in to PayPal I get an email that says: 'We noticed a new device login'.
I've been logging in to PayPal now for the better part of twelve years and I've never logged in from any other device.
Is anybody else getting this mail - or is it just me?
PayPal not helping.
Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'd be concerned about receiving a notification like that as well. It sounds like the notifications you're receiving from PayPal are being sent from our Security System. Normally, you should be able to minimize these kind of notifications by logging in from a trusted device. For your protection, notifications like the ones you've mentioned cannot be turned off as they're designed to notify you of any potentially unauthorized activity.
My apologies for any inconvenience this may have presented,

"Normally, you should be able to minimize these kind of notifications by logging in from a trusted device"... is why it's so weird.
I only *ever* log in to PayPal from one single device, my PC, I never log in from any other device.
My PC *is* my trusted device.
It's pretty much bomb-proof, too!
