Will account be limited if I add 3 letters to my name

My last name is missing 3 letters and I'd like to verify my account. Since verification requires names to match on id card, I'd first like to add the 3 missing letters in my profile settings because I heard PayPal could limit account if names doesn't match or something. How can I do things fluidly? Thanks

Dear @kernowlass The article says: You will be able to fix a typo of 1 or 2 characters only once. If you're not fixing a typo, you'll be asked to provide documentation to support your name change (i.e. copy of your photo ID). And since I found myself with the obligation to upload a documentation because the typo I'd like to fix is more than 2 (3), PayPal asks me to upload 2 documents: 1st is my id card and 2nd is "A copy of the legal document showing your name change This is normally a court-issued document, like a marriage certificate or divorce decree." which of course I don't have because I just want to fix a typo of 3 characters. What can I do now?

Hi @Kevinouz,

Thank you for your posts!

I'm sorry to hear of the difficulty with a name change. My suggestion would be to create a document that explains the nature of the typo, and then upload that along with your ID. If the change does not appear to be moving the account from the possession of one person to the possession of another, the request may go through once it is reviewed.

Another option is to close the account and open a new one with the correct name. If there are any subscriptions or billing agreements, or any PayPal cards or credit products associated with the account, they would not carry over, however.

I hope this helps!

Olivia

Thanks a lot @PayPal_Olivia, one thing I like about you guys is you're so nice. And that's definitely stress relieving because I actually have money on my account and I have emergency bills to pay, so I can't close it just like that because everytime I try to withdraw my money to my card, I get a "Sorry but we need more information. Contact customer service." So yeah. I guess my only choice would be the first option: creating a document explaining the nature of the typo (which I've never thought could be possible and is so much better). So thank you so much. I'll get back to you as soon as possible to reply, kudos and mark as solved when it works. You guys are genius.
