Since I live in the middle of nowhere, with no phone signal, using PP has been a collossal pain in the nether regions. I have to go outside and climb a hill opposite my houe to get a phone signal so I can receive the 2FA codes sent by SMS. Then, clamber back down the hill and get back into the house to enter the code before it expires. This soon gets old --especially in the weather at this time of year!
So, imagine my joy when I found that, buried in my PP account preferences was the option to set an authenticator app as my 2FA 'primary device'.
Brilliant!-- I can now login to PP without it involving a mountaineering expedition. But...
For certain actions [I think it happened previously when trying to add a bank account and today it's happened with trying to do a transfer] I'm asked to complete 2FA authentication via SMS or Phonecall. No option to use an authenticator app....
So, what's the point of letting us set a preference for 2FA in our account settings, if it's just going to be ignored? Can we have some consistency in this, please!
