I haven't used pay pal for a while so I don't know if this is now common or what? Received an email which looks to be legit from pay pal indicating that my recent purchase was sent. However, the address shown for the delivery was not mine. All the links seem to be legit, but I knew it wasn't right and sent to both ebay and paypal, both of which responded that it was a phishing attempt. 2 major questions - 1) What did the phisher's hope to achieve? The links appear legit and are the same as the links in the legitamate email, and show as verified by verisign. 2) How did the phishers get the paypay transaction ID and the emails of the seller and my email? I understand that they could get the item details, ie, buyer/seller id, price paid and shipping charges, but how do the get the pay pay ID# and the outside emails? Have asked pay pal but don't expect an answer. Notified seller what happened as well.
