My husband and I fell for the scam of Larrycloth.com. We sure did, the deal was just too good to be true, we were tight on money around Christmas and found a really awesome deal on a SmartTV through their website. I was hesitant, trust me, however going back and forth and knowing that PayPal was the method, I knew that if something went wrong I would be backed by PayPal to get my money back.
I placed my order (still hesitant) and received what appeared to be legit order confirmation details, confirmations, tracking numbers, tracking history. I mean, the tracking number was through the Post Office. I even signed up for texting confirmation of my tracking number. The day had finally arrived and my order was delivered. I was so excited. I called my husband and said that our order was delivered if he could check outside. I mean the text I received said my tv was delivered to the mailbox (we live in a Single-Family Home, maybe they meant the front door) it was here!! NOPE, no tv.
I immediately contacted the local post office via email/online order status tracking/complaints. I was contacted by the Local Post Office (Arlene, she was great!!) Sure enough, get through all of the details.......THIS IS A SCAM. She had mentioned that at least two other people had come in claiming their orders never arrived. What tipped her off was the origin mailing address. We all had the same address. I received a ton of email correspondence with Arlene. My next step was to file a dispute with Pay pal, I wanted my money back.
My dispute with Pay pal was denied because the Seller's response was that he provided a valid tracking number, which he did, yes I agree with that, but I still don't have my TV.
I followed up with PayPal and sent them all of my email communication with the Post Office. The Customer Service Rep (with PayPal) indicated I needed something signed by the local Postmaster. I reached out to Arlene once again. We met at the Post Office on the afternoon and she provided me a copy of my Tracking Slip. THIS IS THE BEST Part -The name of the recipient and the address on the slip WERE NOT MINE. It was clear as day. I also received from her a complete report of my tracking number history. Even the report showed that my tracking number was tied to another address, not mine. I also want to add that when I was talking to Arlene at the Post Office she mentioned she had spoken to the mail carrier that delivered my package and the carrier said that my package was an envelope and even felt like there was not anything in the package.
I am happy to say that I received an email from PayPal after sending this additional documentation to them that they have FOUND ME IN FAVOR and are issuing me a credit.
The other recommendations were to File a Police Report with my local Police Department and also contact the Postal Inspector and advise them that I was the victim of Postal Fraud.
I am hoping that my story and diligence helps someone out there. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them for you.
