I've been an Airbnb host for about 4 months now. From late July until the end of October I received my Airbnb payments through PayPal in the recommended time - 24 hours after check-in. I was very happy. I had a week in early November with no bookings but when I had my first payment around 8 November suddenly it wasnt released to my account automatically. It took some time to realise that the Payment had been received from Airbnb but Paypal had classed it as Pending. After a couple of days of messaging, I was assured that this is part of PayPal's security system for periodic auditing of payments etc. Every single Airbnb payment since then has gone into Pending. It is never released to my until after I have complained and sometimes that is 48 Hours + since the payment was received by PayPal. I get the same Messaging Centre reply: oh we see your concern has been resolved. No it hasn't! I have emailed PayPal GB to escalate my concerns to a formal complaint but no reply. Has anyone else had this problem? PayPal doesnt have the excuse that it is dependent on waiting for refund window to close as with some eBay transactions. I am getting exascerbated and considering changing my Airbnb payout to direct banking (takes longer but at least it's guaranteed, low-stress option).
